The Partyman company believe in 3 simple core business values of consistency, experience and most importantly great people.
Above all else, James believes that the people at Partyman are their biggest asset.

I won the £5,000 business package, I thought this was a great idea for young people to get their ideas across to industry professionals. Before the event i saw my business as a way to make profit not anymore, I see it as a way of introducing a scheme that will not just benefit young people but also the community. I now think more about my business and what I really want from it.

The energy and enthusiasm of all the speakers who had made such an effort to be there without getting paid, despite being such high-earners! It made me realise that there are still good people out there and even good wealthy people lol

I needed direction mainly as I'd been flailing on my own for 5 months and had no idea how to set up a business or how to develop my professional persona! I was lacking in confidence and was losing faith in myself and my business idea and I went along, more as a personal challenge to keep going than because I really felt it would be beneficial for me (as I thought it was mainly for under 24's). The energy and enthusiasm of all the speakers who had made such an effort to be there without getting paid, despite being such high-earners! It made me realise that there are still good people out there and even good wealthy people lol - who still care enough to help people who are struggling to get off the ground. I have learnt to "seize every opportunity" and am definitely a lot more confident and "pushy" now. If you don't ask, you don't get and I am now asking a lot and if I get a "No", I don't take it personally and let it ruin my day. It's just business and it's a numbers game - if I persevere, eventually I will get the "Yes" I need. I am still struggling to get a starting break with my business, but I won't give up now, as I know this is something that all the speakers went through.

I went to the event to learn how to have the confidence to just get started with it. I loved the energy in the room, the mix of speakers, the range of other wannabes (age/gender etc). I learnt to grab life by the balls, have the confidence to jump right in.

I went to the event to learn how to have the confidence to just get started with it. I loved the energy in the room, the mix of speakers, the range of other wannabes (age/gender etc). I learnt to grab life by the balls, have the confidence to jump right in. Be unapologetic, look for opportunity and don't strive for perfection, just get out there and do your thing. Inspire others to do the same. I know now that business is more about personality and worth than offering a unique product or service. Business is about collaboration, sharing ideas and supporting each other. It's about being fair, being open and finding out the individual needs of customers. It's about talking to your customers as real people. Not just a mass of consumers.
